Captains beat TinCaps, 2-1, take series
Jul. 23—The Captains took a shutout into the ninth inning and toppled the host TinCaps, 2-1, on July 23 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Lake County's Jake Fox hit an RBI double in the fifth inning as part of a two-hit afternoon. In the seventh, Cesar Idrogo singled, stole second base, took third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch to give the Captains a 2-0 lead.
The TinCaps scored their run on a sacrifice fly in the ninth, but Tyler Thornton got a strikeout to end the game and earn his ninth save.
Dayan Frias also had two hits, including a double, for the Captains.
Lake County (42-47) won four of the six games in the series. Beloit visits Classic Park for six games beginning July 25.
