Before district championships can begin in most fall sports, Cape Coast Conference championships are determined. Those not already determined will be settled this week.

CCC events in bowling, cross country and golf will run Tuesday through Thursday around Brevard County, beginning with bowling at Merritt Island Shore Lanes on Tuesday.

Space Coast won the 2022 girls conference championship, and the Vipers are among the top contenders this season. Two girls on the team average among the best in Brevard. Brooke Street, last year's FLORIDA TODAY Girls Bowler of the Year, is at 220.1, followed by Emily Street, 201.2.

Last year's boys champion was Heritage. Other boys contenders include Edgewood, where Ian Harmon averages 227.9, and Merritt Island. The Mustangs' Lincoln Moyer, with a 226.7 average, bowled a 300 game in September.

The girls golf championship is set for Duran Golf Course at 1 p.m. Wednesday, and Viera's Hannah Hall enters with the sixth-best nine-hole average among the state's 2,287 girls golfers this season, a 34.5. Five of her seven nine-hole scores were sub-36.

The boys will play at Viera East the following day at 1:30. Cocoa Beach's Carson Sisler, last year's FLORIDA TODAY Boys Golfer of the Year, ended September with a three-match streak of under-par rounds. He was six under for the stretch. Viera is the team favorite.

Before the boys tee off in the afternoon, the county's CCC distance runners will determine cross country championships at Wickham Park in Melbourne, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Last year, Viera won the boys title alongside Satellite's girls.

Championships in swimming and diving were held two weeks ago, with Titusville and Satellite splitting the boys and girls crowns. Viera defeated Merritt Island for the CCC volleyball title.
