Cap Henry led for the entire race Saturday at Fremont Speedway, before Danny Dietrich passed him on the last corner to claim the $10,000 Rick Ferkel Classic on the second night of the 41st annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek with the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions.

Dietrich, of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, led all but the last lap of the Speedweek event at Fremont in 2021, before Cole Duncan took the victory.

Kistler Engines/Kistler Racing Products/Madison Motors Night didn’t start well for Dietrich as he clipped an infield tractor tire in his heat and went to the tail. He stormed back to finish second and lock into the dash, where a sixth-place finish put him in the third row of the 40-lap feature.

Dietrich beat Henry by .054 seconds for his first ever Fremont win and 20th career All Star victory. Dietrich is two-time Williams Grove Speedway track champion in Pennsylvania.

“My car owner was probably mad at me for coming out here instead of racing for $7,000 at Lincoln Speedway, but $10,000 sounds a little bit better,” Dietrich said. "Heading into turn three on that last lap, all I could replay in my head was that move by Cole.

"I just tried to do what he did. Just hats off to everyone back home who allows us to come out here and do this. We have so many people to thank, and I know they are at home watching, but we certainly couldn’t do any of this without our supporters, and of course, the fans.”

Tyler Courtney finished third, followed by Zeb Wise and Buddy Kofoid in the main event.

“We just got beat fair and square,” Henry said. "I hate leading a race early. We were definitely hanging in those last five laps or so, just trying to hang on. I made too many mistakes the last five laps.

"But, we’re up here standing in second after a bad start last night at Attica. We’ll take this and move forward.”

Dustin Stroup, left, battled Bryan Sebetto for the lead for several laps and won his ninth race at Fremont Speedway.

Bryan Sebetto earned his second straight Speedway win in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints. It was the third win in a row for the former Fremont 410 sprint track champion, who won last week at Attica Raceway Park.

Sebetto outlasted a stubborn Kody Brewer. Sebetto has 25 wins at Fremont, tied for 22nd on the list.

“That was simply experience," Sebetto said. "I’ve got a lot of laps around here and Kody doesn’t. He’s going to win some races. I like running the top but when I saw him driving under me I decided to move down. It’s great to get a win with both my sons here and so many of the people who have helped me out over the years."

Speedway is host Saturday to D2 midgets, Steel Block Late Model Series and Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks.
