Candy Cane swim meet runs Friday through Sunday, ninth Skate Games set for Saturday

The Watertown Area Swim Club and Watertown Figure Skate Club are hosting home competitions this weekend.

The Candy Cane Swim Meet is slated to run Friday through Sunday at the Prairie Lakes Wellness Center.

Friday's opening session will start at 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday's sessions are set to open at 9 a.m. On the final two days, 13-and-over swimmers will compete in the morning session with 12-and-under swimmers set to compete in the afternoon session.

The WFSC's ninth Skate Games is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. through 2:45 p.m. in the Maas Ice Arena. More than 50 skates from the surrounding are slated to compete.

Admission is free. A "Bangs and Bags" raffle drawing is slated for 12:45 p.m.

WFSC is pairing up with the Southern Valley Figure Skating Club out of Wahpeton for the  "Dakota Series Compete USA" Figure Skating Competition.  The WFSC has won the Dakota Series Championship title each of the past eight seasons.

Watertown and Wahpeton clubs will each host competitions and the skaters with the most cumulative points will receive Dakota Series awards in addition to the awards given at each individual competition.
