Caleb Williams, if he wants to win any 2023 awards, needs a huge game vs Washington

The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is presented to the nation’s top upperclassman quarterback who delivers the best combination of scholastic and athletic achievement.

The Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation’s best college quarterback.

USC’s Caleb Williams is not the leader in the races for these awards, but he isn’t completely out of the running for them, either.

Williams is 189-for-277 (68.2 comp %) and has thrown 25 TDs for 2,646 yards. He has also rushed for 136 yards on 74 carries with 9 TDs. Williams is tied for the most rushing TDs by a quarterback in the nation.

The Heisman Trophy Winner from 2022 needs a big win versus No. 5 Washington at home this weekend to get back in the awards races this year. The USC Trojans, after playing Washington, close the season out at No. 6 Oregon and No. 20 UCLA at home for senior day.

Caleb Williams continues to impress audiences and prove himself as one of the most exceptional and talented quarterbacks in college football. With his remarkable contributions, it is clear that Caleb has a bright future ahead of him. If he wants to win an award, however, beating Washington with an elite performance is a must.

The three finalists for the Davey O’Brien Award will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 28, while the winner will be revealed live on Friday, Dec. 8, on The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
