Buy into the Paul Skenes fantasy baseball hype!

Yahoo Fantasy analyst Dalton Del Don identifies players to buy, sell, and hold midway through Week 7 of the fantasy baseball season.

Video Transcript

I'm Dalton Del Don from Yahoo Fantasy with a stopwatch report.

I'm buying the hype on rookie Paul schemes.

He posted a 6.75 a during his much anticipated MLB debut, but that came with a 2.84 Sierra and strong peripherals.

His stuff graded highly and Skeins has already thrown the third most 100 mile per hour pitches among starters this year after just one start, the top pitching prospect, put up video game like numbers in AAA this year recording a 0.99 A with a dominant strikeout minus walk percentage, projecting rookies is always tricky and Pittsburgh's defense won't help but schemes has the skills to be one of fantasy's very best starters.

Hm.

That is until he reaches his innings limit.

A player I'm selling is Hector Neris Norris has been a popular Fantasy ad after taking over Chicago's closer's role but his peripheral suggests trouble ahead.

He's converted all six save opportunities and recorded two wins over the last three weeks.

But his three A is accompanied by a 5.74 Sierra that ranks fourth worst among 200 qualified relievers.

He's also bottom 10 in Whip.

Naris has walked more batters than he struck out this season.

So the warning signs are obvious saves are a real commodity in fantasy, but there's a high probability Naris blows up your ratio soon if you can't sell, maybe grab Mark Leer Junior as insurance.

And finally, a player I'm holding is George Springer.

Springer is off to the worst start of his career but his walk and K rates remain stable.

His lowly babip is sure to improve.

Springer is hitting just 111 with runners in scoring position this season.

The second lowest among 200 qualified hitters.

He's walked more than he struck out during those situations.

So regression should be coming.

Springer has also faced one of the league's most difficult schedules when accounting for opposing pitchers as stuff plus and if that's not enough, Guano's home park has oddly been tough on right-handed power in 2024 decreasing homers by 11% despite moving the fences in last season.

Hey, Springer's stat cast numbers are down and he's 34 years old, but he's due for much better luck moving forward.

Springer is hitting leadoff running more than ever and should be held in Fantasy leagues.
