Buy low on Cody Bellinger after his slow start

Drew Silva understands Los Angeles Dodgers' OF Cody Bellinger has been frustrating for fantasy managers, but he explains why now is a smart time to buy low on the Dodgers' star.

DREW SILVA: It has no doubt been a frustrating year for fantasy managers who committed an early round pick to Dodgers star, Cody Bellinger. He missed seven weeks of action between early April and late May because of a hairline fracture in his left fibula, and then another 11 days in June because of a left hamstring issue. And when Bellinger has been healthy, the production has been rather underwhelming.

But in fantasy baseball, you typically want to bet on talent and track record, and Bellinger quite obviously rates very well in both of those categories. If there was ever a time to buy low on the 25-year-old one-time NL MVP in Redraft or Dynasty formats, that time is now. Across his first five Major League seasons-- including this one-- Bellinger has averaged 38 home runs, 102 RBIs, 14 stolen bases, and 105 runs scored for every 162 games played, along with an OPS north of 900. He hasn't been able to get it going yet in 2021, amid all the stops and starts, but Bellinger can be a league winner once he does finally find that groove.
