Buffalo Bills at Philadelphia Eagles: Team connections

The Buffalo Bills will travel to the Philadelphia Eagles for a matchup on Sunday at 4:35 p.m.

It’s a brand new NFL weekend with plenty on the line for both teams. But for some on the Bills (6-5) and Eagles (9-1) there is a bit more on the line than others.

That’s because multiple players and coaches for both sides are going to be playing against their former teams. That can create a little bit of extra motivation for them heading into Sunday.

With that, here’s a quick list of connections the two teams have with one another ahead of the upcoming matchup at Lincoln Financial Field:

McDermott has been in Buffalo since 2017 but his NFL coaching career began all the way back in 2001 in Philadelphia. He was initially hired to Andy Reid’s coaching staff with the Eagles and held various assistant roles. He ended up becoming their defensive coordinator in 2009.

Joseph was a mid-season addition by the Bills. He did the exact same thing with the Eagles last season.

Douglas earned his stripes in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, who traded him to Buffalo at the 2023 NFL deadline. But Douglas cut his teeth in the league with the Eagles. He was their third-round pick in 2017.

Technically the only team Bates has played for in the NFL is the Bills… however, he signed as an undrafted rookie with the Eagles initially. The Bills traded for him during his first NFL training camp and he has stuck around ever since.

Sirianni has no ties to the Bills, but he is a native of western New York. He hails from Jamestown, NY.
