Bucs RB Chase Edmonds designated to return from IR

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be getting some help for their running game.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that the Bucs are designating running back Chase Edmonds to return to the active roster from injured reserve. Players have a 21-day window to be activated back to the active roster, and if they are unable to return by that time, the player cannot come back to the team for the season.

That shouldn’t be a problem for Edmonds, though, and he could be ready as early as the team’s game against the Buffalo Bills Thursday night. IR demands that a player misses four games, but not four weeks — as such, Edmonds was able to do part of his recovery during the bye week, so it’s possible he could be healthier than most coming off IR. It is a short week, however, so if the team didn’t want to risk it, he could return for the team’s next game against the Houston Texans in Week 9.
