Bucs agree to 1-year deal with Pro Bowl DL Akiem Hicks

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have added another well-known veteran to their already stacked roster, agreeing to a one-year deal with free agent defensive lineman Akiem Hicks, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Hicks, who was a Pro Bowler in 2018, can make up to $10 million this season, according to Schefter.

A third-round pick in 2012, Hicks is 32 years old, and has 40.5 career sacks. Durability will be the biggest question mark for Hicks, who has played just 29 games over the past three seasons due to injury.

This move makes it clear that Ndamukong Suh won’t be returning for another season in Tampa Bay, as Hicks fills his role along one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive fronts.
