Bubba Watson reportedly reaches deal to join LIV Golf in Boston
Bubba Watson is reportedly set to join the LIV Golf Invitational Series later this fall.
The two-time Masters champion will join the controversial Saudi Arabian-backed league for its fourth event this season outside of Boston in September, according to The Telegraph and Golf Digest. When Watson makes his debut, he will reportedly serve as a team captain.
An official announcement is expected this weekend during the LIV tournament at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.

Watson has 12 wins on the PGA Tour, including twice at the Masters in 2012 and 2014, and reached as high as No. 2 in the Official World Golf Rankings. The 43-year-old has played on four Ryder Cup teams for the United States and a pair of Presidents Cup teams.
Watson withdrew from the Charles Schwab Challenge in May and announced that he had sustained a torn meniscus. Watson was initially expected to miss up to six weeks, but he hasn’t competed since the PGA Championship the week before, where he finished T30.
Watson has two finishes inside the top 25 in nine Tour events this season. He is currently ranked No. 86 in the world.
Watson is the latest to make the jump from the Tour to LIV Golf in recent weeks. Paul Casey, Charles Howell, Jason Kokrak and Henrik Stenson will all make their debuts this week in New Jersey. Stenson lost his spot as Europe’s Ryder Cup captain because of the move.
