Brooklyn Nets share Kevin Durant trade talks ending with KD, Nets to mend ties

Finally, fans of the Boston Celtics can turn their attention to the season ahead without the distraction of a potential trade for Brooklyn Nets star forward Kevin Durant hanging over their heads with the Nets releasing a statement declaring trades for Durant being off of the table (h/t to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski).

Per the Nets’ statement, GM Sean Marks, owner Joe Tsai, Clara Wu Tsai, Durant, and agent Rich Kleiman met in Los Angeles, California Sunday and worked out their differences. “We have agreed to move forward with our partnership,” related the statement. “We are focusing on basketball, with one collective goal in mind: build a lasting franchise to bring a championship to Brooklyn.”

The news — we think, anyway — brings the several months-old saga to a resolution, allowing the Nets (and the Celtics and several other teams reportedly tied to Brooklyn) to focus on their remaining team-building tasks.

For Boston fans now very weary of the cycle of leaks and counter leaks, this is unequivocally good news.
