Brooklyn Nets give concerning medical update on Ben Simmons

NEW YORK — One of the main things that fans of the Brooklyn Nets have been waiting for is the latest update on Ben Simmons as he recovers from his back injury. The Nets did give an update on Saturday as head coach Jacque Vaughn had alluded to after Thursday’s loss to the Charlotte Hornets, but it was concerning to say the least.

The Nets announced on Saturday that Simmons received an epidural injection to aid in his recovery. Among other things, the team mentioned that Simmons continues to improve and that he will continue with his treatment and strengthening exercises while ramping up his basketball activity.

The next update on Simmons will be given in approximately two weeks from now. He has already missed 12 games this season and will be missing his 13th game on Saturday when the Nets take on the Orlando Magic. Vaughn had more to say about Simmons’ status during his pregame availability on Saturday.

“So, the epidural happened within the course of this week here,” Vaughn said. “It was just a part of his getting back to playing. And, that is a part of his treatment, a part of his strengthening that was just a part of his getting back to a position of joining us.”
