Broncos sign OT Cam Fleming, cut LB Kadofi Wright
The Denver Broncos are bringing back veteran offensive tackle Cam Fleming, the team announced Wednesday morning. Fleming’s returning on a one-year contract.
Fleming (6-6, 326 pounds) signed a one-year deal with the Broncos last spring after the team lost starting right tackle Ja’Wuan James to a season-ending injury. Fleming competed for the starting job last summer but failed to beat out Bobby Massie.
Though he began the season as a backup, Fleming did end up starting in four games as an injury fill-in last year. He was penalized one time and allowed a half sack in those four appearances, according to STATS.
Massie became a free agent this spring and Denver opted to not re-sign him. Instead, the Broncos signed veterans Billy Turner and Tom Compton and re-signed Calvin Anderson. Those three players were set to compete for the right tackle job this summer, but Turner is still recovering from a knee injury so he’s currently on the physically unable to perform list.
With Turner unavailable, Denver is bringing back Fleming to add more depth and competition at the position.
To make room for Fleming on the 90-man offseason roster, the Broncos waived undrafted rookie linebacker Kadofi Wright.
