Broncos inactives: 7 players won’t suit up for season finale

The Denver Broncos have announced their list of inactive players for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers at Empower Field at Mile High.

Broncos defensive lineman D.J. Jones (knee), wide receiver Kendall Hinton (chest/foot), offensive tackle Calvin Anderson (ankle), outside linebacker Jonathon Kongbo (illness), cornerback Damarri Mathis (concussion), kick returner Montrell Washington and quarterback Jarett Guarantano will not play in the team’s season finale.

With Jones inactive, rookies Matt Henningsen and Eyioma Uwazurike could be in line for more playing time this week. At wide receiver, with Hinton sidelined, rookies Jalen Virgil and Brandon Johnson could also be in line for more snaps.

The Broncos also elevated outside linebacker Wyatt Ray and inside linebacker Ray Wilborn from the practice squad to the game-day roster on Saturday evening. The linebackers will revert to the practice squad on Monday and then be eligible to sign reserve/future contracts.

Denver has already been eliminated from playoff contention, so Sunday’s AFC West showdown with the Chargers will mark the Broncos’ final game of the 2022 season. Denver will turn its attention toward the offseason on Monday, beginning with a search for a new a head coach.
