Brendan Harris scores early, Jacksonville Icemen defeat Savannah Ghost Pirates: Nov. 8
Turning point: Brendan Harris scored only 2:03 into the game and the Jacksonville Icemen pulled away from there, ending their losing skid and beating the Savannah Ghost Pirates 5-2 in Wednesday night's ECHL hockey at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
Three stars: 1. Logan Cockerill, Jacksonville (one goal, one assist). 2. Harris, Jacksonville (one goal, one assist). 3. Michael Houser, Jacksonville (25 saves).
Penalty box: Jacksonville's Michael Turner and Savannah's Anthony Collins squared off in a fight late in the second period. … The Icemen (4-2-1-0) converted two of four power plays, with Derek Lodermeier and Logan Cockerill finding the net.
Around the rink: Savannah (2-5-0-0) outshot Jacksonvile 16-7 in the third period, but former NHL goalie Houser held the Ghost Pirates at bay apart from goals by Vincent Marleau and Alex Gilmour. … Nick Isaacson notched his first Jacksonville goal with an assist by Matheson Iacopelli, the first of Iacopelli's two assists on the night. … Jacob Panetta added a late empty-netter.
