Breaking: Notre Dame loses top 2023 commit to Oregon
This isn’t what the Irish were expecting, but was always a possibility for Texas safety Peyton Bowen. They were fending off schools like Texas A&M and Oklahoma but not many expected Oregon to be in the mix.
Well, Bowen made his decision to join the Ducks this morning and it is a complete shock to many in South Bend. By all reports it seemed like Bowen’s in-home visit with Marcus Freeman went extremely well and the staff thought they had secured a signature from the star Texan.
That clearly wasn’t the case as he will head to the Pacific Northwest and suit up for the Ducks.

This is clearly a huge loss for Notre Dame, as they now have lost both 5-star prospects that had at one-time verbally pledged to the Irish, defensive end Keon Keeley being the other. Even though the loss of Bowen is big, it shouldn’t put Freeman and his staff in a bad mood. They will end up signing one of the best recruiting classes in the country.
