Team USA figure skating duo Brandon Frazier and Alexa Knierim share the things that kept them motivated through the pandemic and throughout their journey to the Beijing Olympics

ALEXA KNIERIM: I'm continually motivated from the fact that I know that I have an opportunity that many, many people dream and wish that they could have. And I take it very seriously and just treasure the opportunity to follow my dreams to become an Olympian. And I know that our skating brings a lot of joy and fulfillment to our fans and family. And being able to provide that happiness also motivates me daily. And any way I can give back to the community and the world watching to make them feel something positive is motivating enough for me to get out of bed every day.
BRANDON FRAZIER: Definitely with COVID and the pandemic, it tests your will to how much you want something, whether you're an athlete in school or it's your own business. And it definitely found testing me at all levels on how badly I wanted to pursue and keep going as an athlete. And I am beyond lucky to have the team I have right now and to be able to still do what we enjoy doing during the world in the circumstances it's at right now.
It definitely goes without struggle at times, but that flame, it gets you out of bed and will keep you pushing. And I'm always the kind of person that wants to challenge myself. And right now there's always challenges each day. So just trying to overcome them is a huge personal goal for me and always looking back at everything with gratitude.
