In a bow: Wednesday's Fantastic Five high school athletes helped wrap up tournament tiles
Just a taste. Most February vacation week tournaments are wrapping up, giving some teams a glimpse of the feeling at the top of the mountain.
Some won titles close to home, while others crisscrossed the state.
Most will go into hibernation over the next few days as we await Saturday's basketball and ice hockey brackets from the MIAA. But for now they can revel in the success of a job completed. For now.
These teams wrapped up successful end-of-season tournament runs led by our Fantastic Five MetroWest and Milford are high school athletes from Wednesday, Feb. 21:
JEREMY AUREN, Framingham boys ice hockey
The assistant captain scored the game-winning and only goal in a 1-0 victory over Burlington on Wednesday that delivered the Flyers the Cahoon Cup championship. Dominic Connerny and captain Noah Albright, who was named the tournament MVP, added an assist each for Framingham (9-11-1). Flyers goalie Robert Geltman shut out the Red Devils.
EMILY JOHNS, Algonquin girls hockey
She posted three assists with a goal in a 6-2 win over Pembroke to close the regular season for the Titans (13-6-1) on Wednesday.
CHASE KELLY, Nipmuc boys basketball
He hit five 3s and scored 15 points Wednesday, as the Warriors bested Northbridge 52-50 win the CMADA Class B Championship. It was Nipmuc's first ever Central Mass. championship. Warriors Forward James McKinney added 14 points and 12 rebounds, while senior Jake Giardini hit a 3 with 20 seconds remaining to put Nipmuc ahead for good.

RYAN SAUTER, Blackstone Valley Tech boys basketball
He scored 22 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter for the Beavers (11-9) in a 63-59 win over Quaboag in a Central Mass. Tournament consolation game Wednesday. Jon Powell added nine points for the Beavers (11-9),
RILEY WHITTIER, AMSA girls basketball
She scored 21 points with three 3s, as the Eagles (14-6) took out Gardner 57-46 on Wednesday.

MAYNARD 51, Keefe Tech 50: Logan Greenlaw scored 16 points for the Broncos (9-10) on Wednesday.
HUDSON 60, Worcester Tech 44: Nico Giorgi Woodford hit five 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 19 points for the Hawks (10-10) on Wednesday. Hudson's Jackson O'Brien added 17 points, while Jake Attaway scored 13.

DAVID PROUTY 38, Assabet 20: Ava Palizzolo led Assabet (5-15) with six points Wednesday in a Central Mass. consolation game.
BLACKSTONE VALLEY TECH 50, Clinton 36: Danika Kirby and Ella Rogozenski each scored 12 points, and Skyla Jack added 11 for the Beavers (12-7) on Wednesday in a Central Mass. Tournament consolation.
MARLBOROUGH 48, Nashoba 37: Isabella Miele totaled 22 points, and Meghan Deneen and Liz Johnson each added 10 for the Panthers (15-3) on Wednesday.
Girls ice hockey
WOBURN 3, Wayland/Weston 0: Goalie Tilly Miles saved 33 shots in a 3-0 loss against Woburn for Wayland/Weston (8-11-1) on Wednesday.
