Boston point guard alum Dennis Schroder now has tattoos for Celtics AND Los Angeles Lakers

There have been a number of fairly infamous tattoos in the history of the Boston Celtics organization. Some have become newsworthy due to the omission of important punctuation, as was the case with star small forward Jayson Tatum’s “God’s Will” tattoo that some were reading as “God swill“.

Others made a name for themselves as fans by getting an ambitious (and ultimately unfulfilled) championship prediction for 2022, a problem also made famous by a certain player who joined the team near the end of its last era of contention (then-shooting guard and now-Utah Jazz assistant coach Jason Terry, for those of you too young to recall that era).

But we can comfortably expand that list after learning via Bryan Kalbrosky of our sister site FTW that former Boston point guard Dennis Schroder has tattoos not only recalling his time with the Celtics but also some new ink to celebrate his return to the Los Angeles Lakers.

By all accounts, a fairly subdued team tattoo compared to others predicting titles to commemorate his time with one of the two most storied franchises in the league.

And of course, fans of the team are already taking issue with the ink because of Schroder’s Celtics tattoo, an equally unostentatious piece of art.

It’s easy enough to forget that for all the bluster and bleeding (color) many players offer up to the public to feed the rivalry between ball clubs, for many others, the opportunity is a job above all, even if they still pour their hearts into it.

As Kalbrosky notes, there’s nothing wrong with dual carding even these two ancient rivals given how much time and energy he’s put into both clubs over the years.

If you want to view him as a heel for going back to the Lakers, keep in mind that it wasn’t the German floor general’s decision to be traded away, nor does he seem to be on bad terms with any Boston alumni — he even won EuroBasket bronze with one he was traded for not too long ago.
