Hall of Fame Boston Celtics big man Bill Russell was among the greatest evangelists for the culture of the club he won an NBA-record 11 titles with as a player and as a player-coach. Celtic Pride is a concept laden with Russell’s DNA. But the origin of that concept had remained hidden to all but the most astute historians of the team.
To get it out in the open with a high-profile interview with the eponymous host of the popular PBS talk show, Russell linked up with Charlie Rose in 2000 to talk about those mystical roots, his career with the Celtics and loads more.
