BoCoPreps 10&10: Week 6

Sep. 25—Each full week of the fall season, BoCoPreps will highlight 10 teams and 10 athletes that had exceptional performances. While our staff will utilize multiple avenues to compile these lists, readers are encouraged to submit nominations to our email (results@bocopreps.com).

10 teams

Peak to Peak boys golf: Om Mathur led the Pumas with an individual regional title at the Class 3A Region 2 tournament, carding a 1-under-par 70. Senior George Grady and sophomore Jack Brayman tied for second with 72s as the Pumas collectively dominated the team race with 214 strokes.

Holy Family boys golf: In 3A Region 3, the Tigers edged out Eaton by the thinnest of margins to claim the regional title by one stroke, netting 232 overall. Seniors Drake Krommenhoek and Rudiger Heitz led the way with a tie for fourth and 77 strokes.

Erie boys golf: The Tigers took a page out of their female counterparts' playbook by winning the 4A Region 1 tournament with a 223, as sophomore Sean Cary won the individual race with a 70 and senior Hayden Jackson carded a 72 for third place.

Regional boys golf rundown: Peak to Peak, Holy Family and Erie are the big winners

Centaurus football: The Warriors scored a jaw-dropping 75 points in their win over Palmer on Friday night. Addisu McCormick netted 21 points himself, including a 94-yard run.

Centaurus boys tennis: The Warriors made it three straight when they won the NCAC conference championships, with six of seven lines winning their respective regional titles. They'll enter the Class 5A team tournament as the No. 15 seed.

Boulder girls cross country: Kiki Vaughn won the NW Open Space 5K PR Challenge with a 18:03.80 to lead the Panthers to a team victory, beating out second-place Monarch by 38 points.

Longmont volleyball: The Trojans extended their winning streak to six matches after taking Silver Creek and Greeley West in straight sets, and will face an equally-hot Mead on Tuesday night.

Erie volleyball: After starting out the season 0-3, the Tigers have now won four straight matches, including two in straight sets last week, to flip the script on their season.

Volleyball: Erie outlasts Fairview through three tough sets

Mead boys soccer: The Mavericks improved to 6-1-1 on the season with a win and a tie last week, including a 9-0 smackdown over Riverdale Ridge.

Legacy softball: The Lightning won three straight games last week as their offense netted 37 runs and their defense only gave up 11. In their 16-3 victory over Poudre, Jordyn Heronimus raked in seven RBIS.

Blake Barnett, Erie football: As Barnett continues to inch ever-closer to breaking Christian McCaffrey's Colorado high school career touchdown record of 141, he moved the meter a few feet in the Tigers' 40-8 victory over Windsor. Barnett scored six times, bringing his career tally to 125 with at five games left on the regular-season docket.

Jordan Rechel, Fairview football: Rechel touched the end zone five times in the Knights' 49-7 victory over Douglas County.

Kylee Schlepp, Niwot gymnastics: The sophomore out of Holy Family rose to the top of the podium of in the Cougars' triangular against Broomfield and Roosevelt, as she came off injury to win the all-around with a 35.05.

Charlotte Etcheverry, Silver Creek softball: The Raptors defeated Longmont 22-9 and enjoyed five RBIs off of three hits from Etcheverry alone.

Oliver Harmon, Fairview soccer: Harmon scored the game-saving goal in the Knight's 1-1 tie against Boulder and, two days earlier, netted two goals with an assist against Mountain Range.

Boys soccer: New rule sees Boulder-Fairview finish in rare tie

Kolby Holmes, Longmont football: Holmes crossed the pylon five times — three passing, one rushing and one kickoff return for a touchdown — in the Trojans' 48-6 beating of Skyline.

Anabella Descalzo, Holy Family cross country: The Tiger junior blew away the competition at the Northfield Nighthawk Invitational, clocking in at 19 minutes, 2.80 seconds to win by nearly nine seconds.

Brian Heredia, Skyline soccer: Heredia found the back of the net twice in the Falcons' 3-2 victory over Columbine, as the team improved to 6-1 on the season.

Laila Gallaher, Jefferson Academy volleyball: In a week that saw the Jaguars lose their first match of the season, Gallaher excelled on the attack with 28 kills through nine sets.

Ceci Chiaravalle, Lyons softball: The Lions' ace struck out 20 and only gave up one earned run in the team's 11-inning, 4-1 victory over Weld Central. She also raked in three RBIs on two doubles.
