The previous wonder goal highlight from Spain U-21 defender Inigo Martinez this season was his regrettable yet impressive backheeled own goal in an international match a few weeks ago, but now he has one that he can genuinely be proud of.

Martinez delivered an equalizer for Real Sociedad in a match Athletic Bilbao eventually won 2-1 on Sunday with this rocket from beyond the halfway line that caught opposing keeper Gorka Iraizoz off his line. Not only was this the first goal of Martinez's career, but Real Madrid's Xabi Alonso even called the best goal in the 18-year history of Real Sociedad's Anoeta stadium. Not a bad way to break one's duck.
