Sens Borowiecki boarded by ‘Canes Westgarth, leaves game

In the first period of the Senators and Hurricanes game, Carolina's Kevin Westgarth was given a 2:00 minute boarding penalty for his hit from behind on Mark Borowiecki.

Leading up to the hit, Ottawa's Borowiecki loses an edge racing toward a puck in the corner. Getting to his skates, he's bent at the midsection with his head facing to the boards. Westgarth skates up behind and shoves Borowiecki's rear-end. The Senators defenseman's forehead makes direct contact with the boards.

After remaining on the ice for several minutes, Borowiecki was skated off the ice directly to the locker room with the help of teammates. He has not, and will likely not, return to this game.

Westgarth was only given a 2:00 minute minor for the hit. Possible Shanaban or Shanafine coming?

UPDATE: Mark Borowicki did not return to the game. Per the Senators twitter account, he left the game due to a strained neck.
