Tyrann Mathieu tweets America is a ‘wicked & cruel place to reside’ following Boston Marathon bombings

Former LSU defensive back and Heisman Trophy finalist Tyrann Mathieu just can’t quite seem to keep his foot out of his mouth.

After Monday’s horrific bombing at the Boston Marathon, Mathieu thought this now-deleted, but highly retweeted, tweet would be an appropriate way to express his feelings about the events.

He was wrong.

Yes, events like Monday’s bombings make people angry, but I think saying that America is a “wicked & cruel place to reside” is pretty ridiculous, especially for a young man who might make millions of dollars playing football despite a long and public battle with drug abuse that resulted in him getting kicked off his collegiate team.

Seems like Mathieu should be considering America the land of opportunity.

There are wicked people in this world, there’s no doubt about that, but to attach a few evil deeds to an entire country is ridiculous (even more so when there’s no evidence that it was domestic terrorism).

I’d be curious to hear about Mathieu’s ideals place to live especially given his circumstances and the opportunities that likely await him.
