The best revenge for Serena WIlliams and Caroline Wozniacki: South Beach, hoops, leopard swimwear
PARIS – A lush bank account can't fix a broken heart. But it sure can help you do fun stuff to take your mind off it.
Suddenly, Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki are front and centre (court) in Miami, after their shocking early exits from the French Open.
Williams fell in straight sets to young Spaniard Garbiñe Muguruza while Wozniacki, fresh off former fiancé Rory McIlroy calling off their engagement – literally calling it off – and a first-round defeat in Paris, decided to do a little Girls Gone Wild in South Florida to clear their minds of all the drama.
First, there were the bikini shots. Seriously leopard.
And then there was the moment Serena walked right into a beach wedding in her leopard suit – a moment that wedding party will never forget.
And, of course, the NBA Heat game - courtside seats, photos galore.
If some are surprised about the Serena-Caro alliance, they shouldn't be. It seems these two really are friends – and the biggest tell on that was when Williams was at her home in L.A., recuperating from that scary blood clot issue. The WTA Tour players were out on the West Coast for the Indian Wells tournament a few years ago, many passing right through L.A. on their way to the desert. But Serena made a point of mentioning later on that Wozniacki was one of the few who actually stopped in to see how she was doing. And that they survived this little incident.
That's big. The two also were hanging out in Paris before their respective on-court dramas.
It can be a little cat-eat-cat out there in WTA Land. How great is it to see that two of its biggest names are there to support each other during rough times.
Hopefully they'll come back over for Wimbledon rested, refreshed and rejuvenated.
