Bills’ Sean McDermott, Josh Allen seemed unhappy at Ken Dorsey’s game plan

For those reading between the lines, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and head coach Sean McDermott did not seem happy about the game plan the team had on offense against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9.

The Bills fell 24-18 in the outing and the offense falls on the doorstep of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.

Both McDermott and Allen did note there is confidence in the team still. Allen mentioned he believes in the Bills’ coaching staff which includes Dorsey.

But both did have some interesting notes on how the offense looked. The words “inconsistency,” “rhythm” (or lack thereof) were dusted off.

“Just find a way to get into a rhythm. Came out on the opening drive, had some success moving the ball. Obviously, hit a lull there,” Allen said via video conference. “In order to win you’ve got to stop yourself from losing and we didn’t do that tonight.”

The deeper comments are where the more intriguing notes were found. Specifically, a lack of running the ball caught McDermott’s attention.

“I think we ran the ball eight times maybe with the running backs?” McDermott said. “Not that you’re going to be 50-50, totally balanced, but the threat of being two-dimensional.”

That magic number is, indeed, eight. Running back James Cook had six carries for 20 yards, meanwhile, Latavius Murray had two more for only four yards.

Allen, seemed to get a bit frustrated by a series of questions about the rough outing the offense had at the end of his press conference. He finished up short and to the point when asked why the offense did not pick up the tempo.

“Just the game plan we had going into it,” Allen said.

Emotions are high following a defeat. Still, some of the most direct comments toward the game plan is something we’ve seen little of out of Buffalo in recent years.

The temperature is turning up.
