Bills at Panthers: Baker Mayfield will play extended time

The Buffalo Bills will see a steady dose of Baker Mayfield in their third and final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

According to Panthers Wire, Carolina head coach Matt Rhule said that Mayfield, who was named the team’s starting quarterback, will be on the field and playing against the Bills on Friday.

Mayfield and the starting offense for Carolina will see more than just one series as well.

“Yeah, we’re gonna play Baker into the second quarter, we hope,” Rhule said. “Again, we’ll play it by feel, too. It could be earlier, it could be later. We’ll kinda get a feel for, ‘Hey, we’ve had enough,’ and go on.”

After Mayfield, Buffalo will then face a familiar face, former New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. Both Mayfield and Darnold were traded to the Panthers in back-to-back offseasons.

The Bills already announced this week that quarterback Josh Allen and “most” starters will not play in Carolina.

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
