Bills at Commanders: 3 key matchups to watch in Week 3

The Buffalo Bills will visit the Washington Commanders in their upcoming Week 3 matchup.

Even with it being a cross-conference game, it will still be the games, within the game, that will make all the difference.

Here are three key matchups to watch during Sunday’s Bills-Commanders contest:

OL Dion Dawkins vs. DE Chase Young

On a defensive line that is the scariest in the NFL, Young’s name is the name at the top of the list. He’s fresh off 1.5 sacks against the Denver Broncos and he’s a fierce competitor on his day.

Luckily for the Bills, Young is likely going to be up against their best offensive lineman in Dion Dawkins. Per Pro Football Focus, Dawkins grades as Buffalo’s top player on the O-line with a grade of 77.2. He’ll have to earn every bit of that against the Commanders.

TE Dalton Kincaid vs. CB Benjamin St-Juste

The Bills still need to get contributions from someone other than Stefon Diggs in the passing game. Considering the defensive front the Commanders have again, it could be a quick-passing game for Buffalo’s offense and Kincaid can come in handy there. Particularly so with Dawson Knox on the injury report this week.

St-Juste will likely be tasked with covering the slot. He has a coverage grade of 67.7 from PFF through two games.

CB Tre'Davious White vs. WR Terry McLaurin

Top cornerback against the No. 1 receiver is a bit cliche. However, it’s an important one when facing the Commanders.

McLaurin is far-and-away their best option in the passing game. Especially with former Bill tight end Logan Thomas likely out. If White shuts him down, it’s going to be a tough one for Washington quarterback Sam Howell.
