Bills at Chiefs: 6 things to watch for during Week 6’s game

The Buffalo Bills continue their regular season journey on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6.

Once the battle arrives, there will be a few particular things to keep in mind.

Here are six things to watch for during Sunday’s Bills-Chiefs matchup:

Offense leading the way

When you have Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes as your quarterbacks in a game, there’s going to be some offense. These two both hold several records and rank amongst the NFL’s best QBs over the past few years.

In terms of Sunday’s matchup and offense on the field, look no further than points scored per game so far in 2022. The Chiefs lead the NFL with 31.8. The Bills are in second at 30.4.

Buckle up.

Another day for Gabe?

Last week the Bills had a huge effort from receiver Gabe Davis. He scored on two deep touchdown passes and had 171 receiving yards.

Kansas City is no stranger to such games from Davis. He had a record four touchdowns in the 2021 postseason against them.

Will the Chiefs defense be prepared for Davis? And if so, does that open things up for Stefon Diggs? This is one of the things that makes the Bills offense so hard to handle. Pick your poison.

Bills pass rush 'closing'

The Bills signed Von Miller this spring. After, Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane described the idea of Miller being a “closer,” against everyone, especially the Chiefs.

Things to watch? Is Miller the closer?

Don't allow that to happen to you

Speaking of closers, the Bills need to make sure the Chiefs don’t have one of their own. Buffalo’s offensive line has to show up in this big game.

Against the Steelers last week, the Bills offensive line played well. Keep that momentum rolling.

Coping with Travis Kelce

Kelce has had his own big games against the Bills. Can Buffalo prevent that from happening again? That’s only going to be highlighted even further because Kelce had a ridiculous four touchdown catches last weekend against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Improvement on the injury front

By game day, the Bills might have a healthy roster. Or at least a healthier one.

Names who might return against the Chiefs (and will be monitored through the week) include:

  • WR Isaiah McKenzie (concussion)

  • LB Tremaine Edmunds (hamstring)

  • S Jordan Poyer (ribs)

  • TE Dawson Knox (foot/hamstring)

  • CB Christian Benford (hand)
