Iowa State women's basketball learns its Big 12 opponents for the upcoming season

Iowa State women’s basketball fans got a sneak peek of what the 2023-24 Big 12 Conference schedule will look like Thursday.

The Big 12 announced the schedule matrix for the upcoming season. It includes every team playing five Big 12 opponents twice, then the other eight conference opponents one time for a total of 18 games.

Iowa State will play newcomer BYU as well as Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and West Virginia twice. The Cyclones will play home games against Baylor, Cincinnati, Oklahoma and TCU.

Iowa State’s five away-only contests will be at UCF, Houston, Texas and Texas Tech.

According to the league, opponents were picked based on a combination of factors including geography, historical results and a poll of coaches to “best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness.”

Iowa State’s full Big 12 schedule with dates and times will be released later.
