It's UFC Fight Night this weekend at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event will be a light heavyweight bout between Anthony Smith, a minus 175 favorite, versus Ryan Spann, a plus 145 underdog.
Here with me, as always, is Kevin Iole to give us his best bet for the weekend. Kevin, what is your best bet?
KEVIN IOLE: Well, Minty, I have two plays on this one this week. I think this is a fascinating fight because they're similar styles. You know, they're both tall guys, and they both have similar styles. But Anthony Smith has more experience. He's fought better level of opposition, and he's a more consistent fighter. So I'm going to go with Anthony Smith. I'm going to go ahead and lay the 175, and I am going to play Anthony Smith.
But I also think this fight is going the distance, so I'm going to play the fight will go five full rounds. I just think that, while Anthony's striking I think is really at its peak right now, Ryan Spann is also a pretty good striker. I think it's going to be primarily a striking battle. I think you'll see the jiu-jitsu aspect-- because both are good jiu-jitsu players-- knocked out. It'll be a striking battle.
I think it goes the distance. I like Anthony Smith to win it.
