Betting: Could Hawaii be a good underdog play vs. UNLV?

Yahoo Sportsbook Analyst Pamela Maldonado gives her Power Play for Week 12 of the NCAA college football season.

Video Transcript

PAMELA MALDONADO: Hey, Yahoo Sportsbook. I'm Pam Maldonado with one of my favorite college football plays for week 12.

Listen up, because this is for my late night [INAUDIBLE]. Take Hawaii plus 11 at home to UNLV. In Hawaii's last three home games, the Rainbow Warriors are 1-2, both losses by one score, including a 7-point loss to Utah State just last week. Hawaii's offensive strength lies in the run game, with two running backs in Dedrick Parson and Tylan Hines. Both have two 100-yard rushing games this season, both predictions came at home.

The Rebels defense statistically worse against the run, and giving up at least 140 rushing yards to New Mexico, Notre Dame, and Air Force. Is Hawaii either Notre Dame or Air Force? Not really, but Parson and Hines do have some home game upside, plus UNLV is looking to become Bowl-eligible for the first time since 2013. Hawaii can spoil that with an upset.

The Rebels don't have an easy trail to the Bowl, leaving behind a brutal stretch of opponents, facing Air Force at Notre Dame and at San Diego State, and now has to fly six hours to face Hawaii. 11 points is just far too much for a Rainbow Warriors team that is playing in its final home game of the season with an offense that rallies for its home crowd. Take Hawaii plus 11 against UNLV and sprinkle that plus 335 moneyline.
