Best Bets: 2021 NFL MVP

FRANK SCHWAB: I'm Yahoo Sports senior NFL writer Frank Schwab. Here are my three best bets for NFL MVP. We're going to start in Dallas with my number 3 pick, Dak Prescott. He's 20 to 1 at BetMGM right now, and we all know the story.
Prescott's coming back from that gruesome leg injury. But when he got hurt, he was on pace for about 6,000 yards. If he could put up anywhere near those numbers with all those receivers he has to throw with, he's going to be one of the guys in the MVP conversation.
The Cowboys should be better this year. Prescott is going to be a great story, so he might win the narrative. He's playing for the Cowboys, so he's going to be in the headlines a lot. And holding that ticket at 20 to 1 might look pretty good.
Coming in at number 2, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray's 14 to 1 at BetMGM, and I think that's good value. Murray's going to put up stats. We know we can throw the ball well. He can run it too to add to his value.
He was having a very good season last year before some injury struck. I think Cardinals could be better. And if they're in the playoff conversation, Murray will be in the MVP conversation. And if that's the case, 14 to 1 will look pretty good.
And finally at number 1, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. I know it's kind of a boring pick. Mahomes is going to be an MVP candidate every year, but that's kind of the point.
He's 6 to 1 right now at BetMGM, and I think those are great odds. He's the favorite. But yet, if you're going to give me Mahomes every year at 6 to 1, I think I'm going to cash a lot of tickets.
We know he's going to put up a lot of stats. He's going to win a lot. He's already a brand name. He has everything going for him in the MVP race, and I think 6 to 1 is going to go down a lot as the season goes on. You're going to be happy you have that ticket.
