Bengals QB Brandon Allen reels in award for performance vs. Texans

How strange is 2020? It’s Brandon Allen, not Joe Burrow, bringing in weekly awards based on his performances.

Wednesday, Allen was named the FedEx Air Player of the Week for his performance in his team’s victory over the Houston Texans in Week 16.

There, Allen posted a 29-of-37 line for 371 yards and two touchdowns in the 37-31 upset win, effectively outdueling Houston’s Deshaun Watson in the process.

It was a career day for Allen, who had missed the prior week’s game with an injury. The performance also said much about Zac Taylor’s future as Bengals head coach if he’s squeaking out showings like this from backup passers.

Allen will get at least one more chance for some individual honors as the Bengals close the season at home against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17.
