Bears DT Akiem Hicks was noticeably absent from Thursday’s practice

The Chicago Bears hit the practice field at Halas Hall for the first open practice at training camp on Thursday, where a limited number of fans were in attendance.

When Matt Nagy met with the media ahead of Thursday’s practice, he reiterated that injuries to safety Eddie Jackson (hamstring) and offensive tackle Germain Ifedi (hip flexor) are “not concerning.” He also noted that rookie offensive tackle Teven Jenkins (back) wouldn’t practice for the second straight day.

But there was one big-name player who was noticeably absent on the practice field: defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, who wasn’t among those players mentioned during Nagy’s pre-practice press conference.

There’s been no update about why Hicks missed Thursday’s practice, but we’re hoping an update should be on the way.
