Bears draft choice as unpredictable as ever
The 2017 NFL Draft will be the most important draft that Ryan Pace has endured to date. It’s also his most unpredictable.
The Chicago Bears general manager is entering his third season in said role. Through his first two seasons, the team has gone an embarrassing 9-23. This year’s draft will be make-or-break not only for Pace, but for the entire Bears staff. Head coach John Fox will most certainly be gone if he can’t turn things around. Offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains may be gone, too, if Chicago’s offense repeats its 2016 performance.
With such a big draft coming up, a big move is necessary to save their jobs. However, unlike in years past, there’s only one thing that’s certain…

Last year, it was pretty clear that the Bears were planning on drafting an edge rusher at No. 11. The only thing up in the air was if that edge rusher would be Leonard Floyd or Shaq Lawson. Within the past couple of days alone, plenty of contradicting rumors have already run amok online.
Some claim that the Bears are a lock to pick a quarterback with the No. 3 pick. Even the people who report that can’t seem to agree on which signal-caller Chicago values most. Deshaun Watson, Mitch Trubisky and Patrick Mahomes have all been deemed as the top quarterback on the team’s rankings.
Other rumors believe that the Bears will not pick a quarterback at No. 3. Instead, the rumors state that they plan on taking a defensive back. Jamal Adams, Marshon Lattimore and Malik Hooker have all been named as possible targets. Even Jonathan Allen isn’t completely out of the discussion yet.
There are even some rumors that indicate that Chicago doesn’t even plan on keeping the third pick. The Bears are reportedly “antsy” to trade back, so it could be a very real possibility.
This year is arguably the most unpredictable draft in recent memory. There are so many rumors to keep track of that it almost makes my head spin. Regardless of what the Bears do on Draft Day, it’s certain that whomever Pace picks needs to be a home-run selection.
