DAN WETZEL: Chicago Bears-- can this team develop Justin Fields, despite not having any pieces around him? Although, no respect for N'Keal Harry in that seventh rounder that has had to give up to get him.
CHARLES ROBINSON: Man. Man, this is-- here's the thing. I am a firm believer that we have no clue whether or not Justin Fields is a good quarterback in the NFL, none whatsoever.
Like I-- the people love him. They roll out some of his film. And look at this throw. Look at that throw. Look at him make plays off script. That's great.
But I just-- I think we have zero idea whether or not-- like if you said to me Justin Fields turns into a Sam Darnold career or a Mitch Trubisky career, I'd be like yeah, totally possible at this point.
Scott's skills, there's no question. But it's-- I think we're no closer to answering what he can really be than we were when he was drafted by the Bears in the first place. In terms of developing them, I mean, seriously, look at the pieces.
No offense to the Bears, but his skill position pieces-- look, David Montgomery running backs, you know, it's good, serviceable player, a really good player. But everything else, the wide receivers-- good luck.
I don't-- I look at the wide receiver depth chart. I mean, even with N'Keal Harry being added, and what did he do but disappoint the Patriots? I don't see anything from a wide receiving standpoint. I don't know who the hell he's going to throw to, you know?
I don't know, man. I'm pretty worried, actually, about Justin Fields heading into this season. I don't think that they really took a huge step forward and really improved anything for him offensively.
DAN WETZEL: I-- agreed. I don't like this team at all. And I have no idea if Justin Fields is good, and we may not know after this year. We'll see.
But he's going to be asked to do an enormous amount because you look at the playmakers, and they just aren't there. There's just nothing like that there. I could see this being a pretty rough year for the Bears. I don't know.
But they got to see something around Fields. Does he-- does he have potential? Sure. But we haven't seen it. We haven't seen a lot yet, and this is a year you got to start showing things I think.
