Barry and Honey Sherman murders: Toronto Police call on the public to identify new suspect caught on security camera

Toronto Police Service are seeking the assistance from the public to identify a suspect in the murder of billionaire couple, Barry and Honey Sherman.

At a news conference on Tuesday, Det. Sgt. Brandon Price showed footage of a man walking in the area of the Sherman residence on the evening of Dec. 13, 2017, aligning with timeline of the murders in the Sherman home.

"We have done an exhaustive video canvas of the whole area and we have, based on the timing on when we believe the murders took place, we have this individual coming into a very defined area around the Sherman’s household and remaining in that area for a period, and then leaving from that area," Det. Sgt. Pice said.

"We have been unable to identify what purpose that person had to be within that defined area and the timing is in line with our belief as to when these murders took place, and so that is why we classify this individual as a suspect."

The individual's actions are considered to be 'highly suspicious,' officials said.

This is not the only footage of this individual that police have and video analysis determined the individual's height is between around 5'6 to 5'9.

Det. Sgt. Price stressed that this individual is in the "well defined area" around the Sherman home, not covered by video footage, remains there, and then can be seen coming back out "sometime later."

Barry Sherman was the founder and chairman of the board of drug giant Apotex. He and his wife, Honey, were found dead in the basement pool area of their home on Old Colony Rd. in Toronto. It was determined they both died of ligature neck compression.

Police say officers have obtained 41 judicial authorizations, conducted about 250 witness interviews, 1,255 tips have been provided to police from the public, and 992 investigation actions have been taken.

The Sherman family is also offering a $10 million reward for information that would help solve the murder case.
