Bainbridge, North Kitsap net all-league volleyball MVP awards

Bainbridge's Holley McFadden and North Kitsap's Ireland Burdick were recently named co-Olympic League most valuable players. All-league selections are voted upon by coaches.

McFadden, a junior outside hitter, led Bainbridge to a 14-6 record and a berth in the West Central/Southwest Bi-District 3A tournament. She ended the season with 280 kills, 16 blocks, 147 digs, 47 aces and an 89% serve rating.

Burdick, a senior middle/receive specialist, finished with 192 kills, 91 digs, 49 aces, 24 solo blocks and 12 assisted blocks. The Vikings went 15-6 and reached the 2A state tournament.

Bainbridge senior libero Emma Pendleton earned defensive MVP honors for the second consecutive season. She posted 241 digs, 32 assists, 18 aces and a 80% serve rating.

First-team picks in the Olympic League were North Kitsap outside hitter Iliana Brockett, receive specialist Teegan DeVries, middle Adeline La Tour; Kingston middle Lucy Patricio; Sequim middles Joleen Vaara and Arianna Stovall. Second-team picks were Olympic setter Josslynn McGarrah and outside hitter Ellie Swan; North Mason middle Adrianna Tupolo; Bainbridge opposite hitter Rollins Anderson; North Kitsap setter Fendi Dowlearn; Kingston libero Carlie Svarthumie; and Port Angeles setter Josephine Edgington. Individual sportsmanship awards went to North Kitsap's Chrisi Alfonzo, Bainbridge's Cecelia Combs, Kingston's Corynn Heuer, North Mason's Kalli Wynn, Olympic's Aviyah Blackwell, Bremerton's Lala Hale Fa'asou, Sequim's Brianna Palenik and Port Angeles' Lily Thomas.

For South Kitsap, senior middle hitter Kamdyn Hagerty earned second-team All-South Puget Sound League 4A North Division honors. Freshman libero Analiah Laufi and freshman middle hitter Angelique Bernard picked up honorable mention for the Wolves.

Four Central Kitsap players received honors in the South Sound Conference 3A: senior setter/receive specialist Kawehi Sarono (first team), senior middle blocker Mae Lindsey (second team), junior outside hitter Jordan Lingenbrink (second team) and freshman setter/receive specialist Ellie Smith. Katie Pasi and staff were also presented with the coach of the year award.

In the Nisqually League 1A, senior outside hitter Lexie Scott earned first-team honors, while honorable mention went to senior setter Elise Hantelman, senior libero Abbie Diehl and junior middle hitter Danika Francis.

Crosspoint sophomore setter Emily MacKinnon earned first-team All-Sea-Tac League 1B honors, while sophomore outside hitter Ellie Arns picked up second-team honors.
