Auburn pitcher named to SEC Softball Community Service Team

On Tuesday, the SEC announced their SEC Softball Community Service Team. This team was established to recognize an athlete from each school that gives back to the community in a superior effort to make a difference.

The list consisted of fourteen different players from across the entire conference. Left-handed pitcher Shelby Lowe was the selection for the Tigers. Here is what the SEC website provided on Lowe in regards to her community support and efforts to make a change:

Lowe is Auburn’s team leader in overall hours of community service. She participated in various events, including sorting donations during the Beat Bama Canned Food Drive, gathering gifts and donations for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree project and volunteering her time to work festival booths during local community events. With a passion with working with children, Lowe makes sure to speak to every child and sign every ball follow home events at Jane B. Moore Field.

The award shines a light on Lowe’s work off the diamond, but on the diamond, Lowe has also been a workhorse. In 28 appearances on the mound for the Tigers, she has a 9-3 record with a 2.74 ERA. During her two-year career on the Plains, her overall record is 22-14 and her ERA is 1.92. The native of Carrollton, Alabama has done an excellent job on and off the field.
