Who will be Auburn football’s next 2024 commit? Keep an eye on these offensive prospects

Auburn football ended the 2023 cycle by climbing out of the depths of the Power Five rankings and ending with a top 25 class.

Hugh Freeze and staff are off to a great start in 2024 as well as they have currently landed four 4-star prospects in CB A'mon Lane, CB Jayden Lewis, RB J'Marion Burnette, and QB Walker White.

Burnette was the latest 2024 product to commit to Auburn when he did so on March 24. The Andalusia native chose Auburn over programs such as AlabamaGeorgia, and Florida State. White has been the headliner as he commits to Auburn as the top-ranked prospect from the state of Arkansas. He has also been an auxiliary member of the coaching staff by publically recruiting Auburn’s 2024 class on social media.

Who will be Auburn’s next commit? On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine suggests that seven offensive prospects are currently favored to commit to Auburn. When looking for Auburn’s next commit, here are the seven names that you need to keep an eye on.

Cam Coleman

Position: WR

Hometown: Phenix City, Alabama

High School: Central-Phenix City

Rating: Four-star

State ranking: No. 5

Position ranking: No. 10

Auburn’s chances of landing him: 91%

Wide receivers coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] has been [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag]’s primary recruiter, and has remained in constant contact with Coleman since taking the job in December. Florida State, Clemson, and Alabama remain in the mix for Coleman, but Auburn is the overwhelming favorite.

Eagan Boyer

Position: OT

Hometown: Cornelius, North Carolina

High School: William Amos Hough

Rating: Three-star

State ranking: No. 17

Position ranking: No. 36

Auburn’s chances of landing him: 86%

Auburn looks to build momentum on its’ high school offensive lineman haul in 2023 by becoming the leading candidate for 2024 OT [autotag]Eagan Boyer[/autotag]. Boyer has taken two visits to campus this calendar year, most recently visiting in March. After watching Auburn’s third practice of the spring, Boyer says that he was impressed with how well OL coach Jake Thornton ran drills.

According to Christian Clemente of AuburnUndercover, Boyer is expected to commit in June. Virginia Tech, Clemson, and in-state school North Carolina are also in the hunt.

Chase Malamala

Position: OT

Hometown: North Palm Beach, Florida

High School: The Benjamin School

Rating: Three-star

State ranking: No. 151

Position ranking: No. 87

Auburn’s chances of landing him: 53%

Even though the margin is close with in-state program, Florida State, Auburn remains the favorite to land three-star lineman [autotag]Chase Malamala[/autotag]. He, like Boyer, has visited Auburn twice this calendar, most recently stopping by on March 20. In an interview with Jason Caldwell of 247Sports, Malamala says that Auburn has a shot to receive a official visit from him when the time comes.

Mario Craver

Position: WR

Position ranking: No. 37

Auburn’s chances of landing him: 45%

The second in-state receiver to make the list is [autotag]Mario Craver[/autotag] of Clay-Chalkville. There are several schools that are in a legitimate race for Craver, with Auburn being the favorite according to On3’s recruiting prediction machine. Alabama is next with a 20% chance, while Florida is not too far behind them according to a recent report from Blake Alderman of 247Sports.

Jac'Qawn McRoy

While we are at it, lets stay on the topic of Clay-Chalkville prospects. Craver’s teammate, [autotag]Jac’Qawn McRoy[/autotag] is also a favorite to land at Auburn. He is listed at 6-8, 340 pounds, making him a solid option at the tackle position. McRoy most recently visited Auburn on March 22, which was his first chance to meet with the current staff. While there, OL coach Jake Thornton told McRoy that he sees “league potential” in him. Keep an eye on Kentucky and Arkansas as other programs that are heavily recruiting McRoy.

JaCorey Whitted

Position: TE

Hometown: McCalla, Alabama

High School: McAdory

Rating: Four-star

State ranking: No. 18

Position ranking: No. 15

Auburn’s chances of landing him: 32%

[autotag]JaCorey Whitted[/autotag] is another target that recently stopped by campus to watch a scrimmage. According to On3, Tennessee and Michigan State are on Auburn’s heels when it comes to recruiting Whitted.  However, Hank South of 247Sports feels that Alabama is quietly making its presence felt in his recruitment.

“Both in-state schools are in play with an offer. Whitted has been relatively quiet about the process to date, but you have to imagine both schools are near the top of the list in his mind.”

Caleb Holmes

Position: OG

Hometown: Fairburn, Georgia

High School: Creekside

Rating: Four-star

State ranking: No. 32

Position ranking: No. 17

Auburn’s chances of landing him: 26%

Auburn and Florida State are in a heated battle about who will get the talents of [autotag]Caleb Holmes[/autotag]. Auburn is currently the favorite, but the Seminoles are close by with a 22% chance of earning his commitment. Holmes has received plenty of offers in 2023, but has only taken a visit to Florida State, doing so in January for the Seminoles’ junior day. It will be a fun race between Mike Norvell and Hugh Freeze to see who lands this talented lineman.
