Auburn baseball is on a ‘collision course’ to host a regional says D1Baseball

It was not all that long ago that Auburn was fighting for a postseason spot. Now, they are the hottest team in college baseball.

After winning four series in a row, two of them being against top-five opponents, Butch Thompson’s squad is cooking right now with the SEC Tournament set to begin next week.

In an article from D1Baseball ($), Kendall Rogers broke down what teams have helped their resumes after week 13 of the season and which teams have not.

Auburn was the second team listed by Rogers in the section of teams who helped their case after the Tigers swept the defending College World Series champion Ole Miss Rebels last weekend and had this to say about the Tigers:

“Could the Tigers be on a collision course to hosting a regional? Auburn is one of the hottest teams in college baseball right now after winning series against South Carolina, LSU, and others in recent weeks. Now, Butch Thompson’s club is up 8 spots in the RPI to 20 to go with 14 wins vs. RPI Top 50 and 23 wins vs. RPI Top 100.”

Auburn will close out its regular season against the Missouri Tigers at home in Plainsman Park this weekend. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. CDT on Thursday and Friday, then 2:00 p.m. CDT on Sunday.

The SEC Tournament is set to begin next week at the Hoover Met in Hoover.
