Arrows' 11-match winning streak comes to an end with a loss to No. 3 SF Washington

SIOUX FALLS — Third-rated Sioux Falls Washington (16-2) put an end to an 11-game winning streak for fourth-rated Watertown in a high school volleyball match between two top Class AA teams on Thursday.

Washington won 25-23, 20-25, 25-21 and 25-14 over Watertown, which fell to 17-4.

"We played an amazing match tonight," said Watertown head coach Rosemary Bellum. "The first three sets were really intense. It became a battle between two teams that serve aggressive, lefts (left-side hitters) who attack hard an defensive specialists who just didn't quite on any ball."

Emery Thury had 14 good serves, 14 kills, four digs and three block assists to lead Watertown. Kynlee Johnson had 18 good serves, Paige McAreavey 13 good serves with four aces and four digs, Emily Tisher 10 kills, Miranda Falconer 31 assists, Natalie Pearson 10 digs, Carter Jurrens five block assists and Avery Munger three block assists.

Up next for Watertown is a visit to second-ranked Sioux Falls Jefferson at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

"We fell short of a win, but we proved we are one of the top AA teams in the state," said Bellum. "I told the girls it wasn't going to get any easier next week."

Harrisburg 3, Aberdeen Central 0

HARRISBURG — Top-rated Class AA Harrisburg pushed its record to 18-0 with a 25-11, 25-17 and 30-28 Eastern South Dakota Conference win over fifth-rated Aberdeen Central (13-7) on Thursday.

Gabi Zachariasen tallied 22 kills, Josalyn Samuels 36 assists, Maggie Meister three aces and 17 digs, Karalynn Leach five kills and two aces and Kennedy Kokenge 11 digs for the Tigers.

Lauryn Burckhard had seven kills, Alivia Miller five kills, Ayrlie Waldo 19 assists and 10 digs and Sawyer Bahr 15 digs for the Golden Eagles.

Hamlin 3, Britton-Hecla 0

HAMLIN EDUCATION CENTER — Hamlin improved to 14-6 by rolling to a 25-11, 25-11 and 25-10 Northeast Conference win over Britton-Hecla (8-11).

Marissa Bawdon notched four aces and 20 assists; Addison Neuendorf three aces, 12 assists and 18 kills; Kayde Nebel and Emily Everson, five kills each; Jayci Trowbridge, 10 digs; and Grace Opdahl, eight digs for the Chargers.

Heather Storbakken tallied 10 assists and 14 digs for Britton-Hecla. Tiyanna Schott had four kills and Karlie Zuehlke three.

Milbank 3, Tiospa Zina 0

MILBANK — Rachel Schulte recorded 15 kills, 18 assists and 14 digs to lead Milbank (15-9) to the 25-9, 25-14 and 25-15 Northeast Conference win over Tiospa Zina (7-16).

Other key contributors for the Bulldogs were Shaylee Schuchard with two aces, Skyler Skoog eight kills, Isabella Anderson six kills, Addisyn Krause 17 assists and 12 digs, Ella Sandvig 12 digs and Claire Snaza one solo and two block assists.

Florence-Henry 3, Wilmot 1

WILMOT — Caylin Kelly smacked 27 kills to go along with 27 digs, five solo blocks and one block assist in Florence-Henry's 22-25, 25-12, 25-14 and 25-11 win.

Kate Hulscher went 17-17 serving and Mashia McQuinn 17-18 for the Falcons (16-10). Taylor Watson added 16 kills, Ashlyn Vavruska 40 assists and 33 digs and Kaylee Vavruska 20 digs.

Leaders for Wilmot (8-13) were Addison Heinje with 17 kills, two aces, two digs nd three assists; Jada Cameron six kills; Julia Anderson four kills, two digs and two aces, Paige Johnson three kills, three digs and three aces; Stacia Redday three kills and 10 assists; and Mya Heinje eight assists.

Warner 3, Faulkton Area 0

WARNER — Top-ranked Class B Warner (31-0) pushed its winning streak to 50 matches with a 25-13, 25-15 and 25-14 Lake Region Conference win over the Trojans (19-8).

Kyleigh Schopp tallied 16 kills, Lauren Marcuson 12 and Makenna Leidholt eight for the Monarchs. Lauren Marcuson added 10 digs, Kyra Marcuson 12 kills and nine digs, Courtney Bjorgaard 16 digs and Ava Nilsson 41 assists. Haleigh Holt went 22-24 serving and K. Marcuson 13-14 with two aces.

Anna Aesoph converted 11 of 11 serve attempts and Micah Martinmaas 7-7 with five assists for Faulkton Area. Addison Melius made seven kills and 11 digs, Carley Cotton six kills and 10 digs, Kelli Stoecker four kills and Tegan Baloun 10 assists.

Northwestern 3, Potter County 0

MELLETTE — Ashley Haven garnered 18 kills and 14 assists and Ella Boekelheide's three aces and 29 assists to spark third-rated Class B Northwestern to the 25-17, 25-18 and 25-17 win.

Payton Grandpre contributed four aces, six kills and 19 digs; Tara Blachford two aces and 17 digs; and Taylor Vetter four kills for the 25-6 Wildcats.

The Battlers received 12 kills and five blocks from Kayden Cronin, seven kills and 23 digs from Zoe Meinke, 13 assists from Finlee Heien and eight digs from Ava Larson.

Estelline-Hendricks 3, Castlewood 1

ESTELLINE — Estelline-Hendricks won for the 22nd time in 24 matches, topping Castlewood 25-20, 28-26, 23-25 and 25-23.

Sadie Johnson finished with three aces, 38 assists and 30 digs and Kenzy Beare 31 kills and 10 blocks for the Redhawks. Presly Bury contributed five aces, five assists and 27 digs; Brooke Johnson nine kills, Claire Dagel four blocks and Ayla Texley 20 digs,

Castlewood, which fell to 13-6, received 43 assists and 17 digs from Gracie Haug, 20 kills and 17 digs from Presley Knecht, 14 kills from Cassidy Kirwan, 11 kills from Emerson Carter and 17 digs from Kailyn Larson.

Deubrook Area 3, Arlington 2

WHITE — Matte Bauman produced 11 kills and 15 assists and Madalyn Bauman 21 assists and six aces to lead Deubrook Area to a 22-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-9 and 15-8 Dakota Valley Conference win.

Kyrra Blum chipped in with 10 kills, Zoey Molengraaf seven kills and five blocks, Hannah Kjelden seven kills and 14 digs, Delaney Pedersen 34 digs, Carly Engelstad 18 digs and Mataya Gouws three blocks for the Dolphins (10-14).

Arlington (10-15) was paced by Addie Steffensen with 16 kills, Harley Johnson 16 kills and 21 digs, Jo Steffensen 23 digs and three aces, Issie Steffensen 43 assists and Jaelyn Huntimer two aces.

Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Ipswich 0

IPSWICH — Lila Johnson made 18 assists and six digs, Katelyn Schroeder seven kills and 12 digs and Ella Johnson four aces and six kills to ignite Hitchcock-Tulare (19-6) to a 25-17, 25-6 and 25-21 victory.

Isabel Gilbert added two aces and one solo and three block assists, Gracyn Bixler three assists and Rebecca Huizenga six kills for the Patriots.

Ipswich (5-18) got 11 assists and five digs from Reghan Bowers, four assists from Josie Knutson, seven kills from Marley Guthmiller and five digs from Briana Geditz.

James Valley Christian 3, Sunshine Bible Academy 0

MILLER — James Valley Christian won 25-15, 25-15 and 25-16 to up its record to 14-10.

Kierra Schaeffers (three aces), Kaylie Robinson (nine assists and 12 digs), Daril Frandsen (eight assists), Addy Knight (eight kills), Cora Hofer (five kills and two blocks), and Andee Frandsen (18 digs) led the way for the Vikings.

Betra Amare had three aces and three assists, Annalise VanZee five kills and three blocks, Sadie Konechne four kills and Abby Hinman six assists and two digs for SBA (1-20).

Herreid-Selby Area 3, Highmore-Harrold 0

HIGHMORE — The visiting Wolverines (15-6) won 25-18, 25-18 and 25-17 behind Jordyn Rossow's 10 kills, Sophia Ritter's 31 assists, Pausha Meidinger's 28 digs and Stephanie Allbee's 26 digs. Mya Ebel contributed two aces and seven kills.

Brooklyn Baloun tallied 20 digs, Reghan Westcott 15 digs, Brooklyn Baloun seven assists, Kendall Cermak four kills and and two aces and Addison McDonnell three aces and three kills for the host Pirates (9-15).

Colman-Egan 3, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 1

COLMAN — Fourth-rated Colman-Egan won the Dakota Valley Conference match 25-14, 25-15, 19-25 and 25-19.

Leaders for the Hawks (19-4 overall and 6-1 in the DVC) included Daniela Lee with 14 kills, two solo blocks and 17 digs; Lanie Mousel, 23 assists; Brynlee Landis, six kills; Anna Zwart, 15 kills; Presley Luze, 20 digs; Kaylee Voelker 25 assists and 13 digs; Elaina Rhode six kills and 10 digs; and Karissa Williams 10 digs.

ORR (8-12) received 19 assists and 12 digs from Emily Matson, 12 assists from Rylan Pearson, 13 digs from Alivia Bickett, five kills and six digs from Bella Malisch, seven digs from Kailey Pearson and 14 kills, seven digs and two solo and three block assists from Julia Trygstad.

Aberdeen Christian 3, Leola-Frederick Area 1

ABERDEEN — The Knights (10-7) won 25-21, 25-13, 15-25 and 28-26 behind Jolie Fogarty's 15 kills, 14 assists and 12 digs.

Chloe Bosma chipped in with two aces, Payton Skarin 11 kills and 16 digs, Ari Johnson 10 kills and five blocks, Sawyer Schwan 26 assists and Alexis Isakson 35 digs.

The Titans (11-11) were led by Sofia Losure with 14 kills and 24 digs, Laura Sumption 13 kills, Jocelynn Ellwein four assists and Kaitlyn Mueller 13 digs.

Mobridge-Pollock 3, Sully Buttes 0

ONIDA — The Tigers improved to 21-4 with a 25-12, 25-18 and 25-20 win.

Leaders for Mobridge-Pollock included Charley Henderson, 11 kills; Sophia Overland, 15 assists; Reagan Weisbeck, 17 digs; Grace Overland one solo and three block assists; Ryli Thompson 11 digs and Raelyn Aberle 14 kills.

Groton Area 3, Deuel 0

GROTON — Liz Fliehs recorded 29 assists and Carly Guthmiller 22 digs to power Groton Area (14-4) to the Northeast Conference victory.

Rylee Dunker added 14 kills, Anna Fjeldheim 10 kills and eight digs, Chesney Weber seven kills and Sydney Leicht four aces and eight digs for the Tigers.

Deuel (7-13) got three kills apiece from Josie Andersen and Annika Kriz, five assists from Sara Jo Kreger and two blocks and two kills from Hope Bjerke.

Webster Area 3, Redfield 2

WEBSTER — The Bearcats rallied to win the Northeast Conference match 16-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22 and 15-9.

Webster Area leaders included Payton Snell, 22-22 serving; Harley Johnson, 19-20 serving with nine assists; Jersey Johnson, three aces and 19 digs; Baylie Somsen, 18 assists and 19 digs; Katie Braun, nine assists; Gracie Cadwell, 15 kills; and Mallory Steiner, 14 kills and one solo and two block assists.
