Arkansas defeats Tennessee in Lady Vols’ SEC home opener

No. 14 Tennessee’s nine-game winning streak ended Friday.

The Lady Vols (19-7, 2-1 SEC) squandered a lead and dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 12 Arkansas before an announced crowd of 1,450 at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

After the Razorbacks (18-4, 1-0 SEC) and Tennessee played a pair of scoreless innings, Tennessee took a 3-0 lead on a three-run home run by freshman Lair Beautae in the third inning.

Amanda Ayala, who went 1-for-3 with a double, and Kiki Milloy scored on Beautae’s home run.

The Razorbacks pulled to within, 3-1, in the fifth inning when catcher Taylor Ellsworth singled in KB Sides with an unearned run.

Arkansas took the lead in the sixth inning when Kacie Hoffman hit a pinch-hit three-run home run.

In the circle, Arkansas’ Mary Haff picked up the win and improved to 3-2 on the season. She pitched a complete game and surrendered three runs, six hits and five walks. Huff recorded 11 strikeouts.

UT’s Erin Edmoundson (12-2) recorded a loss in a complete game. She yielded four runs (three earned), seven hits and one walk. Edmoundson struck out seven.
