Arkansas baseball live score updates vs. Alabama: Crimson Tide evens series with Hogs

Arkansas baseball couldn't finish off a comeback bid as Alabama walked-off to even the series.

The No. 17 Crimson Tide (23-12, 5-9 SEC) knocked off the No. 1 Razorbacks (30-4, 12-2) 4-3 Saturday thanks to a throwing error by Jake Faherty in the bottom of the 10th. The miscue allowed Mason Swinney to score and force a rubber-match Sunday.

Arkansas trailed 3-2 entering the top of the ninth, but Peyton Holt hit a solo home run with two outs to keep the Hogs alive.

The Razorbacks beat Alabama 5-3 Friday night to continue the best start in program history. Arkansas scored five runs across the first three innings and rode a dominant performance from lefty Hagen Smith to secure the win.

Arkansas baseball vs. Alabama: Live score updates

Game Three

Ninth Inning

  • FINAL: No. 17 Alabama 5, No. 1 Arkansas 0. The Hogs lose their first weekend series of the season as the bats stay quiet. The Hogs will likely drop out of the top-ranking for the first time in two months.

Seventh Inning

  • Bryce Eblin hits a two-run homer off Koty Frank, and Alabama leads Arkansas 3-0 with one out in the inning. The Hogs are on the ropes.

Fifth Inning

  • It's still 1-0 in favor of Alabama with the game heading to the sixth. Brady Tygart has gotten out of a couple of jams, and the Hogs only have two hits. The rough weekend for the offense continues.

Third Inning

  • Alabama strikes first on a two-out RBI single by Ian Petrutz, and the Hogs are officially in danger of losing their first series of the year. The Crimson Tide leads 1-0.

First Inning

  • No score for either side. Peyton Holt made a terrific play in left field with a leaping catch at the wall and doubling up a wandering Alabama base runner at first.

Pregame

  • We're closing in on first pitch in the rubber match between Arkansas and Alabama. Brady Tygart is on the bump for the Hogs, and there are some notable lineup shifts. The slumping Kendall Diggs is moved up to leadoff.

Game Two

Tenth Inning

  • FINAL: No. 17 Alabama 4, No. 1 Arkansas 3. A throwing error by pitcher Jake Faherty allows Mason Swinney to score the game-winning run. That ends Arkansas' 11-game winning streak, and the Hogs will need to win Sunday to clinch the series. Brady Tygart will be on the bump for the Hogs.

  • Arkansas goes down 1-2-3 in the top of the 10th.

Ninth Inning

  • We're heading to extra innings after two amazing defensive plays from Arkansas. Diving grabs by Kendall Diggs and Wehiwa Aloy prevented Alabama from scoring the game-winning run. Diggs play, in particular, was extraordinary. The Hogs are still alive.

  • Arkansas can't add another run, so Alabama will have a chance to walk it off in the bottom of the ninth.

  • Unbelievable. Down to their last out, the Razorbacks tie the game in the top of the ninth on a solo home run by Peyton Holt. That's Holt's first home run of the season, and what a time for it. It's 3-3 with two outs in the top of the ninth.

Eighth Inning

  • Alabama will take a 3-2 lead into the ninth after TJ McCants laced an RBI double down the right field line off Stone Hewlett. The lefty-lefty matchup is Hewlett's biggest strength, but McCants won the battle tonight. Arkansas needs at least a run here in the ninth.

Sixth Inning

  • Mason Molina works around a one-out single and has now completed six innings for the first time all season. The score is still 2-2 as the game reaches the seventh.

  • Jared Sprague-Lott hits a home run for the second straight night, and we have a brand new ballgame with Arkansas and Alabama tied 2-2 heading to the bottom half of the inning.

Fifth Inning

  • Arkansas trims the deficit to 2-1 with a solo home run by Peyton Stovall.

Third Inning

  • Another solo home run, this time from Gage Miller, gives Alabama a 2-0 lead over Arkansas as the game heads to the fourth.

  • Arkansas got runners to first and second with two outs, but Jared Sprague-Lott struck out to end the threat. Alabama is coming to bat in the bottom half.

Second Inning

  • Alabama leads 1-0 off a solo home run by Will Hodo, but the Crimson Tide stranded runners on first and third to end the inning. Nice job by Mason Molina to limit the damage.

First Inning

  • Both teams go down 1-2-3 in the first. Nice, efficient start to the evening for Mason Molina.

Pregame

  • Arkansas is trying to clinch the series victory tonight in Tuscaloosa. The Hogs' starting lineup is below. Blog updates might be minimal tonight, but the live score is at the bottom of the page.

Game One

Ninth Inning

  • FINAL: No. 1 Arkansas 5, No. 17 Alabama 3. Hagen Smith pitches six scoreless innings and Gabe Gaeckle records five high-leverage outs to pick up the save. Arkansas did all its offensive damage early, and it was just enough for a series-opening victory.

  • Nothing doing for Arkansas, so the Hogs will head to the bottom of the ninth with a 5-3 lead. Gaeckle needs three more outs for his sixth save of the season and a series-opening victory.

Eighth Inning

  • Gabe Gaeckle gets out of the jam with a strikeout and a ground out to end the inning and strand the runners at the corners. It's 5-3 Arkansas heading to the ninth. Can the Hogs grab an insurance run?

  • Stone Hewlett walks a batter and then forces a sacrifice fly. It's now 5-3 Arkansas with runners on the corners and one out. Dave Van Horn is going to freshman Gabe Gaeckle in another high-leverage situation.

  • Alabama has some late life. Four straight singles and the Crimson Tide have two runs, and it also has runners on first and second with no outs. Arkansas leads 5-2, and Dave Van Horn is calling upon Stone Hewlett to replace Will McEntire on the mound.

Seventh Inning

  • No score in the inning, with Will McEntire coming out of the bullpen to relieve Hagen Smith and setting Alabama down 1-2-3. Arkansas hasn't scored since the third, but the Hogs lead 5-0 heading to the eighth.

Sixth Inning

  • Alabama gets a pair of runners on, but Hagen Smith keeps the Crimson Tide off the scoreboard with a strikeout to end the inning. Smith is likely done for the night at 96 pitches. He struck out six batters and only gave up two hits, dropping his ERA to 1.53 on the season. Arkansas leads 5-0.

Fifth Inning

  • Hagen Smith strikes out a pair of batters and strands a runner on first in another scoreless inning. Arkansas leads Alabama 5-0 heading to the sixth.

  • Arkansas misses a chance to completely blow the game open as Nolan Souza strikes out with the bases loaded to end the inning. Still, it's 5-0 Hogs with Hagen Smith on the mound. Arkansas is in a good spot.

Fourth Inning

  • It's still 5-0 Arkansas after a scoreless frame in the fourth. Hagen Smith has just three strikeouts, but he's been efficient with 54 pitches.

Third Inning

  • Gage Miller hits a ball to the warning track in center, but it's hauled in by Ty Wilmsmeyer to end the inning and keep the Arkansas' lead at 5-0.

  • It's 5-0 Arkansas have the Hogs strike for two more runs in the third. Hudson White had an RBI single, and Kendall Diggs scored on a wild pitch.

Second Inning

  • No score for either team in the second. With his second strikeout of the game, Hagen Smith moves up to third on the all-time list at Arkansas. He now has 284 strikeouts and counting, passing David Walling.

First Inning

  • It's a 1-2-3 inning for Hagen Smith to cap off a dream start for the Hogs. Arkansas leads Alabama 3-0 heading to the second.

  • What a start to the series for Arkansas, with Ben McLaughlin and Jared Sprague-Lott hitting back-to-back homers to give the Hogs a 3-0 lead. Wehiwa Aloy singled before McLaughlin to give the first baseman a two-run shot, and Arkansas has given Hagen Smith an early advantage.

Pregame

  • It's about one hour till first pitch in Tuscaloosa. The Arkansas lineup is below, with no surprises. Hagen Smith will get the ball and try to continue his dazzling junior campaign, and he needs just two strikeouts tonight to move into solo third on the Hogs' all-time list.
