Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley was fined and suspended for one game after he verbally confronted an official after his team's 79-76 loss to Stanford on Saturday night.

Hurley and guard Jay Heath were both suspended for one game by the Pac-12 on Sunday night after they confronted an official as they were walking off the court at Maples Pavilion.

After the final buzzer, Hurley was seen screaming at one of the officials as everyone started to leave the court. One Arizona State assistant coach actually jumped in to defend the official and push multiple Sun Devils players back, so that the official could leave the court safely.

Hurley continued walking, but was seen screaming back at them as he left the floor.

Hurley was fined $20,000 by the conference, and Heath was suspended. Jalen Green was issued a public reprimand. The fine will go to the conference’s student-athlete scholarship fund.

"The actions of the head coach and student-athletes were in clear violation of the Conference’s standards of conduct, and will not be tolerated,” commissioner George Kliavkoff said in a statement, via the Arizona Republic. “The Pac-12 and its membership has established regulations requiring all institutional personnel, especially head coaches, to conduct themselves in a sporting manner, and those involved in this situation failed to meet those standards.”

Arizona State was called for 29 fouls compared to 16 for Stanford in the three-point loss. The Sun Devils also shot just one free throw in the first half and nine in the game, while Stanford shot 41.

Arizona State is now 6-10 on the season, and has lost two of its last three. The Sun Devils will take on No. 16 USC on Monday. Hurley and Heath will be eligible for Friday’s game at No. 3 Arizona.
