Here are The Arizona Republic's high school football rankings through Oct. 9, 2023. The Super 10 comprises of the top teams from the big conferences (6A through 4A).
Super 10
1. Peoria Liberty Lions, 5-1
These guys are clearly at another level in Arizona and now face an unbeaten Tucson Salpointe Catholic team this week.
2. Peoria Centennial Coyotes, 7-0
Fast, physical, punishing, and capable of striking fast through the air. Moves up a spot after holding off Chandler 29-28.
3. Chandler Basha Bears, 6-1
Continues to climb the charts behind QB Demond Williams Jr.
4. Chandler Wolves, 6-1
Showed grit after getting down 26-0 to Centennial with a great defensive effort in the second half.
5. Chandler Hamilton Huskies, 5-2
Took Basha to two overtimes before losing 45-44 last week.
6. Gilbert Highland Hawks, 4-2
No weeks off for this bunch, which now plays at 5-1 Williams Field.
7. American Leadership Queen Creek Patriots, 6-1
After another great defensive effort in a 17-134 win over Red Mountain, they get two weeks to prepare for Highland next week.
8. Phoenix Pinnacle Pioneers, 5-2
Got dominated last week by Libert. But who hasn't been dominated by Liberty in Arizona?
9. Scottsdale Desert Mountain Wolves, 7-0
Had maybe their most complete game in a 31-6 win over Cactus Shadows.
10. Goodyear Desert Edge Scorpions, 6-1
This legit Open team out of 5A has been great on defense, behind edge rusher Deshawn Warner.
