What Arizona Cardinals and Cincinnati Bengals players and coaches said about Sunday's game

The Arizona Cardinals lost their second straight game, a 34-20 defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday afternoon at State Farm Stadium. The Cardinals couldn't stop Ja'Marr Chase, the Bengals' Pro Bowl wide receiver, and a previously hobbled quarterback Joe Burrow looked healthy and strong in completing 36 of 46 passes for 317 yards with three touchdowns.

The Cardinals also turned the ball over three times and once on downs.

Here's more from the Cardinals and Bengals coaches and players about the game:

Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, on losing running back James Conner to a knee injury:

"He's feeling OK. I think on that long run he might have got his foot stuck in the ground and might have twisted his knee up. We'll see tomorrow."

Cardinals wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, on losing Conner:

"It was tough, but I feel like Emari (Demercado) came in, he was running hard. He was running hard and I felt like it was a good confidence booster for him going forward."

Cardinals safety K'Von Wallace, on what allows Chase to be so successful:

"The scheme is run through him. Anytime you have a scheme run through you, either you’ll perform or you’re going to go below the standard. He played to his standard. Congrats to them and I'll worry about the Rams."

Cardinals quarterback Josh Dobbs, on the offense getting off to a better start after trailing 10-0:

"I think that starts with me. Two three-and-outs to start the game is really not our standard at all on offense. As I said, when we show up and we are locked in and executing to start games, we start fast. We felt like we had the opportunity to do that today. I have to be cleaner to start the game. Taking a sack on the second play of the game, putting us behind the sticks is tough to overcome. Missing Hollywood (Brown) down the sideline when he ran a great route is also a missed opportunity. It is on me to get us starting faster, have clean execution to start the game and I think that will set us up for more success throughout the game.”

Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, on breaking the team's record for catches in a single game:

"It feels good, but that wasn't my goal to break that record. I didn't know that was going to happen. I just caught as many passes as I could if they came my way."

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, on Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray reaching out to him about ACL injury recovery:

"We just talked about the process. I’ve been through it so I gave him some insight. He’s a great guy and I was happy to talk with him. He’s going to come back better than ever."

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, on naming Kwamie Lassiter II as a captain for the game:

"Kwamie has been everything that we want to be around, he’s done a great job on our practice squad and did a great job when his number was called last year when he came in against Tennessee when we elevated him. He’s a guy that’s very dependable, we have a lot of trust in him. His dad was a tremendous player here (for the Cardinals) in the late 90s early 2000s and I think that’s a really special moment for a guy. That is exactly what we want to be about, able to maybe have a moment for himself and his family to honor his late dad.

"It’s special for Kwamie, it’s a bonus that he got a catch on 'Red Alert.' Hopefully it was a good moment. When the right people are doing the right things you want to find a way to draw attention to that and Kwamie is a great example. I met his mom in the elevator earlier in the preseason and what a great woman, it’s no surprise Kwamie has been raised the way that he has. Anytime you can give a player that kind of moment you want to be able to do that."
