Area high school track and field athletes have success in O'Gorman and Sisseton meets
SIOUX FALLS — Area athletes won 17 events Friday in the Sioux Falls O'Gorman Invitational track and field meet.
In open events, area winners included Tyler Bain (boys high jump) and Taryn Nieman (girls shot put) of Aberdeen Central, Gracie Lange of Ipswich (girls high jump), Gracelyn Leiseth of Hamlin (girls discus), Damon Wilkinson of De Smet (boys shot put) and Cristhian Rodriguez of Hamlin (boys discus).
Aberdeen Central's boys won the Class AA 1,600 (Colby Dauwen, Brendan Phillips, Kalen Larson and Rylee Rieker) and 3,200 (Sam Schultz, David VanVeen, Joe Perkins and Christian Wells).
In Class A events, Musonda Kabwe of Clark-Willow Lake won the girls' 200-meter dash and also ran on the Cyclones' winning 400 relay along with Samantha Brenden, Johanna Vandersnick and Kelsey Hofer. Vandersnick and Hofer joined Cadence Bochek and Kamryn Nesheim on the winning 1,600 and sprint medley relay teams.
Sioux Valley's Adison Renkly (100 hurdles) and Landree Wilson (100 dash) also won events in the Class A girls division.
In Class A boys' relays, Deubrook Area won the 400 (Richie Meyer, Blake Coners, Colin Bauman and Jake Jorenby), Redfield the spring medley (Jackson Sandos, Nicholas Becker, Justin Ratigan and Kyle Woodring) and Clark-Willow Lake the 1,600 (Jack Helkenn, Brady Jordan, Lincoln Reidburn and Emmerson Larson).

Sisseton Twilight Meet
SISSETON — Groton Area athletes won five relays on Friday during the Sisseton Twilight Meet.
Twenty schools competed. Lisbon (N.D.) swept the team titles.

Groton Area's boys won the 400-meter relay (Korbin Kucker, Ryder Johnson, Andrew Marzahn and Keegen Tracy), 800 relay (Tracy, Johnson, Marzahn and Lane Tietz), 1,600 relay (Tracy, Johnson, Marzahn and Cole Simon) and sprint medley relay (Kucker, Teylor Diegel, Colby Dunker and Blake Pauli).
The Tigers also won the girls' 3,200 relay with runners Faith and Taryn Traphagen, Ashlynn Warrington and Rylee Dunker.

Other area boys division winners included Joey Heim of Oakes (400 dash), David Person of Britton-Hecla (800 run), Lucas Johnson of Great Plains Lutheran (high jump), Sam Rick of Milbank (pole vault) and Matthew Mount of Webster Area (shot put). Heim also ran on the winning 3,200 relay with Roddek Schmit, Zane Awender and Andrew Wolff.
Madison Zirbel of Dakota Hills (3,200 run), Emma Muggli of Oakes (100 hurdles), Laikyn Roney of Oakes (shot put and javelin), Aspen Johnson of Groton Area (triple jump), Elliott Steiner of Webster Area (high jump) and Erin Case of Webster Area (pole vault) were area event winners in the girls division.
Tri-State won the 800 relay with runner Iceli Rabbithead, Taylor Lick, Macy Fritz and Sienna Klein.
